eToro is one of the world’s largest social trading platforms. Yoni Assia, Ronen Assia, and David Ring founded it in 2007 in Tel Aviv. The platform lets users trade stocks, ETFs, crypto, commodities, currencies, and indices — all from a single account.

CopyTrader is eToro’s defining feature. Users can browse profiles of successful traders, review their historical performance, and automatically replicate their trades in real time. When a copied trader opens a position, the same trade executes proportionally in the follower’s account. It’s essentially democratized fund management, and millions of users rely on it.

The platform serves over 35 million registered users across 100+ countries. In the US, eToro offers commission-free stock and ETF trading. Internationally, the product is broader — including CFDs (contracts for difference) that allow leveraged trading on various assets. Crypto trading is available in most markets with a selection of 80+ coins.

Smart Portfolios bundle assets around themes like renewable energy, big tech, or specific market strategies. They’re professionally managed and rebalanced, functioning like thematic ETFs without the fund structure. eToro also runs the eToro Money app, offering a digital wallet and money transfer services.

eToro filed for a US IPO in 2024 after a previous SPAC attempt fell through. The company is valued at over $3.5 billion. Revenue comes primarily from spreads, overnight fees on leveraged positions, withdrawal fees, and currency conversion. SoftBank, Spark Capital, and China Minsheng Financial are among its notable backers.
