Founded in 2011, the platform aggregates pricing data from over 70,000 pharmacies and negotiates discounts through pharmacy benefit managers. Users simply search for their medication, compare prices at nearby pharmacies, and show a digital coupon at checkout.
The numbers are staggering. GoodRx claims to have helped Americans save over $60 billion on medications since launch. The service is free for consumers — GoodRx makes money by collecting fees from PBMs when users redeem coupons. The company went public in 2020 and has expanded into telehealth through its GoodRx Care service.
Beyond coupons, GoodRx now offers a subscription plan called GoodRx Gold that provides even deeper discounts for a monthly fee. The company has also built out content and tools that help people understand their medications, find manufacturer assistance programs, and navigate the confusing world of drug pricing. It’s one of the most-downloaded health apps in the US.
