Rackspace Technology is a managed cloud computing company that helps businesses design, build, and operate their cloud environments. Founded in 1998 in San Antonio, Texas, Rackspace was one of the early pioneers of cloud hosting and became famous for its “Fanatical Support” customer service philosophy.

The company co-founded OpenStack in 2010 alongside NASA, contributing significantly to the open-source cloud platform. While Rackspace has shifted away from competing as a primary IaaS provider, it now focuses on multicloud management and professional services across AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, and VMware environments.

Rackspace’s services include cloud migration, optimization, security operations, and managed Kubernetes. The company employs thousands of certified cloud architects and engineers who work directly with customers to manage their infrastructure.

After going private through an Apollo Global Management acquisition in 2016 and returning to public markets in 2020, Rackspace has repositioned itself as a services-led company rather than an infrastructure-first one. It serves customers across healthcare, financial services, retail, and government sectors.
