Ro started in 2017 as Roman, a men’s health telehealth service. Since then it’s grown into a full-stack healthcare company that covers the entire patient journey — from the initial consultation to pharmacy fulfillment and ongoing care. The company rebranded to Ro and added verticals including women’s health (Rory), smoking cessation, weight management, and at-home diagnostics.

What sets Ro apart is vertical integration. The company owns and operates its own pharmacy, Ro Pharmacy, and has built out an in-home care network through its acquisition of Workpath. Patients can get lab work done at home, consult with doctors virtually, receive prescriptions by mail, and even get nurse visits — all coordinated through one platform.

Ro has raised over $1 billion in venture funding and serves millions of patients. The company’s approach to weight management, including GLP-1 medications, has driven significant recent growth. By controlling the pharmacy and logistics side, Ro can keep costs lower and ensure a smoother experience than competitors who rely on third-party fulfillment.
