Take-Two Interactive is the parent company behind some of the most profitable and critically acclaimed game franchises ever made. Founded in 1993 by Ryan Brant and based in New York, it operates primarily through three labels: Rockstar Games, 2K, and Zynga (acquired in 2022).

Rockstar Games is the studio responsible for Grand Theft Auto, one of the highest-grossing entertainment properties in any medium. GTA V, released in 2013, has sold over 200 million copies and generated more than $8 billion in revenue, making it the most commercially successful entertainment product ever. GTA Online continues to produce hundreds of millions in annual revenue through microtransactions. The announcement of GTA VI sent the internet into a frenzy and the game is expected to be the biggest entertainment launch in history.

Red Dead Redemption 2, another Rockstar title, sold over 57 million copies and is widely considered one of the greatest games ever made for its narrative depth and open-world detail.

2K publishes the NBA 2K series (the dominant basketball game franchise), Civilization (the legendary strategy series by Firaxis Games), BioShock, Borderlands, and WWE 2K. NBA 2K generates substantial revenue from its MyTEAM and Virtual Currency systems.

Take-Two acquired Zynga for $12.7 billion in 2022, adding FarmVille, Words With Friends, and a major mobile gaming operation to its portfolio. The acquisition nearly doubled Take-Two’s market reach by adding hundreds of millions of mobile players.

The company’s stock is traded on NASDAQ and has seen consistent growth, driven largely by anticipation around future Rockstar releases and steady live-service revenue.
